Android Soon to Eclipse iPhone OS?

The Remember the Milk Folks recently surveyed their users. I’m confident their user base and respondent profile is not representative, however, their findings are intriguing. Is the Apple iPhone franchise under serious threat?

Which operating system does your future device run?

The biggest surprise here was that the leader was Android (57% considering a purchase), followed by iPhone OS (40%). (Yes, these percentages don’t add up; clearly some of you are tossing up between the two, or maybe even planning to buy both.)

When the Cincy Enquirer concludes: Arrogant approach to health care

Wow, for the Cincy Enquirer to take this stand!

Arrogant approach to health care

America’s robust discussion of health care reform during the past year has been beneficial in many ways, giving the public greater awareness and insight into this complex issue. Unfortunately, the debate has been held pretty much on one-party terms as Democrats, controlling both houses of Congress and the White House, crafted the only plan allowed on the table, and negotiated behind closed doors. Now, despite the deep reservations of a majority of Americans, congressional leaders plan to ram through their proposal this week - bypassing normal congressional procedures.

Democrats are devising an elaborate set of sleight-of-hand tricks to get this bill on Obama’s desk this week, including Senate “reconciliation” to avoid a GOP filibuster.

Its blatant abuse is yet further damning evidence of congressional leaders’ arrogant, condescending attitude toward the people they ostensibly were elected to serve.

Saying no to Federal Funds

Mary Jones — a Republican — said during a vote on the meeting’s consent agenda that she couldn’t support the nearly $304,000 grant being awarded to the county by the Environmental Protection Agency. Jones said she didn’t think it was the right time for the federal government to spend money on projects like this.
Jones said, “an investment in the community is when we embark in free enterprise and the free market and encourage individuals to move forward in an entrepreneurial way.” She said again that she was concerned with money the federal government is spending.Read more at www.dailypress.com

Dem leaders should take a cue from those “Sign THEN Drive” VW ads.

Democratic leaders should be asking themselves just how they have gotten to the point that their strategy is to amend a law that doesn’t exist yet by passing a bill without voting on it. Surely it’s time to start over.Read more at corner.nationalreview.com

Obama’s attempt at a hat trick: energy, health care, and higher ed

Amplifyd from www.nas.org
Of President Obama’s three big takeovers—cap ‘n trade, health care, and higher ed—higher ed has garnered the least public attention. That may change now that the administration is attempting to impose its wishes
The health care bill that the Democrats hope to pass by “reconciliation” to avoid the normal Senatorial voting procedure is now being amended to include the administration’s Big Grab on federal student loans.  If this works, we will have one bill in which the federal government not only takes primary control of American health care but also simultaneously takes practical control of American higher education.  Read more at www.nas.org

Is it 2040 already? Time to revise the estimates, perhaps? Scary.

If this graph is correct, current aggregate government spending is already at the projected aggregate spending for 2040. Time to revise the estimates, perhaps? Scary.

Obama Urges Straight Up-or-Down Vote on Constitution

Obama Urges Straight Up-or-Down Vote on Constitution

“The real obstacle to approval of my health care reform plan is this ancient charter of negative liberties that says what the states and the federal government can’t do to you,” President Obama said, while standing among a group of physicians dressed in white lab coats and fellow constitutional scholars in white powdered wigs.

“The Constitution deserves the same kind of up-or-down vote that the Bush tax cuts received,” Mr. Obama said. “Once we break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the Founding Fathers in the Constitution, we’ll have no problem passing this historic health reform legislation.”
